Welfare Rights and Income Maximisation Officer (East Lothian)

Please ensure to read all vacancy documents listed on this page before proceeding to the application form.

Part Time – 14 hours per week (flexible working)

Starting salary – £23,000 (pro rata)

Term – 1 to 2 years Fixed Term.

Role

We are looking for someone with a passion for supporting others, to support the delivery of the new Parental Employability Support Fund (PESF) project in East Lothian. You’ll be working alongside our employability partners at East Lothian Works (ELW) to deliver this Scottish Government funded programme. Aimed at improving prospects for families coping with in-work poverty, it also includes supporting those out of work to find sustainable and fair work.

Supporting parents and families to improve their financial situation and therefore their employment prospects, you’ll provide a 1:1 welfare advice service including income maximisation. Working closely with ELW employability and learning team colleagues, you will help alleviate financial hardship and explore options available to people, to reduce the impact of poverty.

You should have some experience of Welfare Rights service delivery including current in-work and out-of-work benefits. You’ll be a part of the wider PESF employment project team but should also be able to work effectively on your own.

The remuneration package includes a competitive salary, 6.8 weeks annual leave (pro rata), flexible working opportunities and a generous contributory pension scheme.

Please note due to COVID-19 restrictions, the recruitment process will be carried out entirely online. Applicants must have internet access from a safe location. If shortlisted for interview, we will use video conferencing for the interview process. The successful candidate will be working from home initially. However, once COVID restrictions are sufficiently eased, you will be based in Haddington with some expected travel within East Lothian.
