MIDLOTHIAN COUNCIL
Midlothian
Council is the major provider of services and largest employer
in the Midlothian area. The Council is committed to 'equality of opportunity'
in the local labour market and delivers a number of specific services
and supports specialist projects, assisting people with disabilities
resident within its catchment area. (see below). It is also in the
process of developing a Midlothian Employment Action Network with
the aim of 'joining up' local providers of employment support to people
from all groups who are significantly distanced from the labour market.

New Deal Environment Task Force
The New Deal Environment Task Force exists to offer practical work
placement activity. Clients gain work experience, with the aim of
moving into employment during or after the course.
Client Eligibility: Clients should be referred by Jobcentre Plus,
via Action for Employment, be aged 18-24 and resident in the Midlothian,
East Lothian or Edinburgh areas. This course is suitable for lone
parents, people with a disability, people managing substance abuse,
ex-offenders, or anyone who comes within any of the other New Deal
eligibility criteria
The course lasts for 13 weeks. Clients get benefits plus assistance
with travel expenses while you are on the course.
If you are interested then contact Jobcentre Plus in the first instance.
They will check your eligibility and arrange an information session
and interview through Action For Employment.
